Welt Sewing Machine
Model EWS 4C
Goodyear
High speed, accurate welt sewing machine; this machine sews the welt to
the lasted upper and insole rib with a chainstitch. Operation is easy
and fast. Both awl and needle penetrate the work from the welt side.
Thread tension is easily adjusted and maintained by a simple
adjustment. A tight seam is ensured because the thread tension is built
up evenly as the stitch is set, pulling the thread down tight to the
welt at low and high speed. Both needle and awl are automatically
withdrawn when the machine stops.
There are two positions on the control switch. When sewing breast to
breast work the switch is set to BB. When the shoe has been sewed to a
point within two inches of the finish point, the knee pad is depressed.
When the foot treadle is released, the welting is automatically cut off.
When processing a sewed seat work, the control switch is set to SS.
When the shoe has been sewed to a point within two inches of the
starting point, the knee pad is depressed to activate the feeler. As
the feeler contacts the starting end of the welt, the welting is
automatically cut off.
The treadle is released and two or three stitches are made, forming an almost invisible joint of the welting.
In the designing of the EWS, the three main objects were to improve the
standard of work, increase the output and reduce the operational
effort. The machine is equipped with:
• Electronic variable speed motor (150 to 900 rpm)
• Pneumatic welt guide
• Electronic digital temperature read-out for the waxpot
• Programmable automatic lubricating system
• Low voltage heating
